‘Tis the spookiest time of year and that means time for a crochet Halloween costume! One of my favorite makes is a crochet cat bow that can be worn as a fashion accessory or used as a decoration.
I’ll confess that I don’t always dress up in full costume for Halloween. However, I like to show my enthusiasm through accessories. This crochet Halloween costume cat bow is perfect for when I don’t have a full costume but everyone is dressing up at work. Just toss on an all-black ensemble and pin a bow in my hair – POOF! – instant costume.
In this post you’ll find patterns for both a large and small crochet cat bow. I have a love of big bows, but some folks might prefer a smaller option.
You will need
- Black yarn approx: 3 oz
- Pink yarn less than 1oz
- 5mm crochet hook
- Darning needle
- Black Floral Wire
- White Floral Wire
- Wire cutters
- Needle nosed pliers
I also have a YouTube video to help make this crochet cat bow!

SC around, working around wire until about 4” left to beg of round.
Take both ends of wire and twist them around each other (use needle nosed pliers to get snug fit).
Continue stitching around wire until end of round, attach to beg with slst, fasten off.
Optional – After twisting ends of wire together, you can wrap tape around to help keep ends together)
Whiskers
Cut piece of white wire 22” inches in length.
Join ends by twisting together so they are secure and form a circle.
Flatten the circle so you have a line instead of a circle using needle nosed pliers to pinch ends to make as flat as possible to make 1 whisker.
Make 3 of these whiskers and wrap wire securely around them in the middle to make a small bundle.
Attaching Whiskers
Take darning needle and stitch through several SC on the center front of bow (do not sew through back side of bow), leaving a 6” tail.
Lay whisker bundle in the center of bow, attach to bow by stitching around bundle two times.
Remove darning needle, with rest of yarn wrap it around center of bow tightly about 30 times.
Weave in both ends under the center wrapping on the back side of bow.
Nose:
